Meet Our Thesis Coaches
Are you looking for a thesis coach who understands your subject, research method and degree programme?
Jouw Scriptiecoach works with coaches from different academic and professional backgrounds. Our team includes specialists in qualitative research, statistics, academic writing, business, communication, psychology, healthcare, social sciences, technology and other fields.
We support students at Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences, including students in English-taught degree programmes. Online coaching is also available when you are completing your internship or graduation research abroad.
You do not have to decide which coach you need before contacting us. During a free, no-obligation consultation, we discuss your assignment, feedback, research method and deadline. We then look for a coach whose experience fits your support request.
Find a thesis coach who fits your research
A coach should not be selected only because they know your subject.
A suitable match also depends on:
- your degree programme and level;
- whether you are writing an academic thesis or practice-based graduation project;
- your research questions;
- the method you use;
- the thesis stage you have reached;
- the feedback you have received;
- the type of support you need;
- whether you write in English or Dutch;
- whether you prefer online or on-site coaching.
For example, a student analysing interviews may need a coach with experience in qualitative research and thematic analysis. A student testing hypotheses may need a statistics specialist who works with SPSS, Stata, R or Python.
Another student may mainly need help understanding supervisor feedback, improving academic English or creating a realistic revision plan after an insufficient grade.
That is why Jouw Scriptiecoach looks at the complete support request before suggesting a coach.

Planning and study skills
Some students mainly need help to regain structure and momentum.
A coach can help you:
- break the thesis into manageable tasks;
- set priorities;
- create a realistic schedule;

- maintain overview during a longer thesis process.
The academic requirements remain the same. The coaching approach is adjusted to the way you work and the support you need.
What can you expect from your coach?
Your coach provides personal, one-to-one guidance.
Depending on your needs, the coach may:
- explain unclear feedback;
- review the structure and reasoning in your document;
- discuss research choices;
- provide comments and practical revision instructions;
- help you prepare an analysis;
- check whether the chapters form a coherent whole;
- help you decide what to work on next;
- practise questions for your thesis defence.
Your coach takes your graduation manual, assessment criteria and supervisor feedback into account. Requirements differ between institutions and degree programmes, so these documents remain the starting point.
You remain responsible for:
- making research decisions;
- collecting and analysing data;
- writing and revising the text;
- checking that the final work meets your programme requirements;
- submitting and defending the thesis.
Jouw Scriptiecoach does not write theses or research proposals on behalf of students and cannot guarantee a passing grade.
How do we match you with a thesis coach?
1. Tell us what you need help with
During the free consultation, we discuss:
- your degree programme;
- the type of thesis or graduation project;
- where you are currently stuck;
- your research method;
- the feedback you have received;
- your deadline;
- whether you need support in English or Dutch.
You can share relevant documents, such as your research proposal, assessment form, supervisor feedback or part of your thesis.
2. We look at the expertise you need
We consider whether you need:
- subject knowledge;
- methodological support;
- statistics expertise;
- academic-writing support;
- help with planning or motivation;
- experience with a resit or rejected thesis;
- online or on-site coaching.
The coach does not need to have completed the exact same degree programme. The combination of relevant subject knowledge, research experience and coaching skills is usually more important.
3. We suggest a suitable coach
We look for a coach whose expertise and approach fit the support request.
You may also mention a preference for a coach whose profile you have already viewed. We can then discuss whether that coach appears to be a suitable match.
You are not required to select a coach yourself.
Support in English, online or abroad
You can receive guidance when you write your research proposal, thesis or graduation project in English.
A coach can help you:
- express research choices clearly;
- improve the logical flow of the text;
- use an appropriate academic style;
- understand English supervisor feedback;
- distinguish between language problems and research problems;
- prepare for an English thesis defence.
Online coaching is available when you study in the Netherlands or conduct your internship or research abroad.
You can discuss your document and questions in a video session and receive feedback on the sections you are working on. The exact working method is agreed with your coach.
What if the match does not feel right?
A productive working relationship requires both suitable expertise and clear communication.
Do you feel that the coaching approach does not fit your needs? Discuss this with Jouw Scriptiecoach as soon as possible. We can look at what is not working and whether another approach or coach may be more suitable.
Do not wait until the end of the process to raise concerns.

During a free, no-obligation consultation, we discuss your situation and look for a coach whose expertise and approach fit your needs.
You do not need to select a coach before contacting us.
During a free, no-obligation consultation, we discuss:

- where you are stuck;
- which research method you use;

- your deadline;

Yes. Jouw Scriptiecoach provides coaching in English and Dutch, depending on the coach and expertise required.
English-language coaching is suitable for international students and students following an English-taught programme at a Dutch university or university of applied sciences.
During the matching process, we consider both the subject or methodological expertise and the language in which you need support.
Please contact Jouw Scriptiecoach when the collaboration does not feel like the right fit or when you need different expertise for the next stage of your thesis.
We can then consider whether:
- the working method with your current coach can be adjusted;
- another coach may be a better fit;
- a second specialist coach is needed for a specific part of the research.
It is best to discuss this as early as possible, so that your remaining hours can be used effectively.
Most forms of thesis coaching can take place online. This generally provides the widest choice of coaches because the match can be based primarily on expertise rather than location.
On-site coaching may also be possible, depending on:
- your location;
- the coach’s location;
- the type of support;
- the coach’s availability.
Not every coach offers both online and on-site sessions. The available options are discussed before you are matched.
Where possible, we look for a coach with relevant knowledge of your field or the professional context of your thesis.
Subject knowledge is not the only factor. Depending on your support request, experience with your research method, programme level or thesis stage may be equally important.
For example, a specialist in qualitative research may be the best match when your main difficulty concerns interviews and thematic analysis, even when another coach has more direct experience with your thesis topic.
Our coaches have different academic, research and professional backgrounds.
Within the team, there is experience in areas such as:
- qualitative research;
- quantitative research and statistics;
- academic writing;
- research methodology;
- thesis structure and coherence;
- practice-based research;
- design-oriented research;
- SPSS, Stata, R and Python;
- resits and thesis defence preparation;
- different academic and professional fields.
Not every coach specialises in every research method or subject. We therefore assess the expertise required for each individual request.
We consider more than the subject of your thesis.
The match may depend on:
- your degree programme and academic level;
- the subject of your thesis or graduation project;
- the research methodology;
- the stage of your thesis;
- the feedback you have received;
- the type of support you need;
- the language of your thesis;
- whether you prefer online or on-site coaching;
- the coach’s availability.
We then look for a coach whose academic, methodological or professional experience fits your situation.
Yes. You can view the coach profiles and mention a preference during the consultation.
We will take your preference into account. The final match also depends on the expertise required, the type of support you need and the coach’s availability.
When another coach is a stronger methodological or subject-specific match, we will explain why.
