Frequently asked questions
Do you have a question about thesis coaching, statistics support, a thesis review or the practical arrangements?
Below, you can find clear answers to the questions students ask us most often. The information is intended for students enrolled at Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences, including international students and students following an English-taught degree programme.
Every thesis, assignment and degree programme is different. Your own graduation manual, assessment criteria and supervisor instructions therefore remain leading.
Are you unsure which answer applies to your situation? During a free, no-obligation consultation, we discuss what you are working on, where you are stuck and which type of support may suit you.
Choosing the right support
The most suitable service depends on what you are working on and the type of help you need.
Choose personal thesis coaching when you want to discuss research choices, understand feedback, organise your work or receive support while improving different parts of your thesis.
Choose SPSS and statistics support when your main question concerns quantitative research, your dataset, statistical tests, software output or the reporting of numerical findings.
Choose a thesis review when you already have a substantial document and want written feedback on its content, structure, completeness and coherence.
A language review may be more appropriate when the content and structure are largely complete and your main concern is grammar, spelling, sentence structure or academic English.
You do not need to select a service before contacting us. During the free consultation, we discuss your situation and advise you on the most suitable next step.
Jouw Scriptiecoach supports students from different academic fields and degree programmes at Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences.
Whether we can help depends mainly on the expertise required for your research topic, methodology and support request. We do not assume that every programme uses the same thesis format or assessment criteria.
Your graduation manual, assessment form and programme instructions always remain leading. During the consultation, we consider which coach’s research, subject or academic-writing experience best fits your situation.
Yes. Online support is available when you are enrolled at a Dutch educational institution but complete your internship, fieldwork or graduation research abroad.
You can share documents and discuss your research online. The requirements and assessment criteria of your Dutch degree programme remain the main point of reference.
Yes. Jouw Scriptiecoach provides support in English and Dutch, depending on the coach and expertise required.
English-language support is particularly suitable for international students and students following an English-taught bachelor’s or master’s programme at a Dutch university or university of applied sciences.
Yes. A coach can help you understand the assessment form and feedback, identify the central problems and create a realistic revision plan.
Support may focus on research logic, methodology, analysis, structure, academic writing or preparation for a new submission or defence.
We cannot guarantee that a revised thesis will receive a passing grade. The final assessment is always made by your university or university of applied sciences.
Yes. You can request support while developing a research proposal, conducting the research, analysing data, writing the thesis, processing feedback or preparing for a resit or thesis defence.
The most suitable service depends on your current stage. When you are still making fundamental research choices, personal coaching is often the best fit. When you already have a substantial or complete draft, a thesis review may be more appropriate.
About thesis coaching
A thesis coach can help you understand and improve different parts of your research or graduation project. This may include:
- a research proposal or plan of approach;
- the problem statement and research questions;
- the theoretical framework;
- qualitative or quantitative methodology;
- data analysis and results;
- the conclusion, discussion and recommendations;
- thesis structure and academic writing;
- planning and processing supervisor feedback;
- a resit or thesis defence.
Your coach explains what needs attention, asks critical questions and gives you practical feedback. You remain responsible for your research, decisions and final text.
Yes. A coach can help you decide what belongs in your presentation, practise your explanation and prepare for critical questions.
You may also discuss:
- your methodological choices;
- the main findings;
- the limitations of the research;
- the connection between your results and conclusion;
- questions an assessor may ask.
You create the presentation and provide the final answers yourself. Your coach helps you prepare and practise.
Yes. A coach can adjust the working method when you find it difficult to start, set priorities, concentrate or organise a large assignment.
The support may include:
- dividing the work into smaller tasks;
- setting clear priorities;
- creating a realistic plan;
- recording written action points;
- using structured overviews;
- scheduling regular progress checks.
The academic requirements do not change, but the process may become more manageable.
No. Jouw Scriptiecoach does not write theses, conduct research, invent findings or make substantive decisions on behalf of students.
Your coach provides explanations, asks critical questions and gives practical feedback. You remain responsible for:
- your research design;
- collecting and analysing the data;
- the choices you make;
- your arguments and conclusions;
- the final wording of the thesis.
This ensures that the work remains your own and that you can explain and defend your research choices.
Your thesis supervisor is appointed by your university or university of applied sciences and works within the formal supervision and assessment process of your programme.
A coach from Jouw Scriptiecoach provides independent, additional support. Your coach can spend more time helping you understand feedback, examine the logic of your research, improve your document or organise your next steps.
The coach does not replace your supervisor. Your graduation manual, assessment criteria and instructions from your programme remain leading.
SPSS, statistics and research support
A statistics coach can help you prepare your dataset, choose an appropriate statistical test, carry out the analysis, check assumptions, interpret the output and report the findings.
Support may also include:
- hypotheses;
- operationalisation;
- questionnaire design;
- reliability analysis;
- connecting the results to the research questions;
- improving the methodology or results chapter.
The exact support depends on your research design, dataset, programme requirements and the software you use.
No. The purpose of the support is to help you understand and correctly perform your own analysis.
A coach can:
- explain the statistical method;
- demonstrate the necessary steps;
- examine the dataset with you;
- review your work;
- help you interpret the output;
- give feedback on the reporting.
You remain responsible for the dataset, statistical decisions, analysis and final text. Jouw Scriptiecoach does not fabricate, change or manipulate research data.
Yes. Receiving support before data collection can help you create a suitable questionnaire, operationalise variables, prepare an analysis plan and structure your future dataset correctly.
This may prevent problems that are difficult to resolve after the data have already been collected.
Jouw Scriptiecoach works with coaches who provide support with SPSS, Stata, R and Python.
Not every coach specialises in every programme, method or analysis. During the consultation, we first examine your research question, dataset and required analysis before looking for a suitable coach.
Depending on your question, it may be helpful to provide:
- your research question and hypotheses;
- the methodology chapter;
- your questionnaire or codebook;
- an anonymised dataset;
- an analysis plan;
- relevant SPSS, Stata, R or Python output;
- your assessment criteria;
- feedback from your supervisor or assessor.
Remove names and other confidential or personally identifiable information from the dataset before sharing it.
Thesis review and written feedback
Depending on the scope agreed in advance, you may receive:
- comments and questions in the document;
- explanations of unclear or incomplete elements;
- feedback on connections between chapters;
- identification of the most important improvement priorities;
- practical suggestions for your next steps.
The feedback is intended to help you understand and improve the document yourself. Your original text remains your own.
Yes. A coach can review a complete thesis or graduation project when the length, scope and available time have been discussed in advance.
You can also request feedback on selected chapters, a research proposal or another clearly defined part of the document.
A partial review may be more appropriate when you have one specific concern, a limited deadline or only want feedback on particular assessment criteria.
A thesis review mainly provides written feedback on an existing document. The coach reads the agreed sections and identifies weaknesses, missing connections and improvement priorities.
Thesis coaching is more interactive. During one-to-one sessions, you discuss research choices, feedback and possible improvements with your coach.
A review may be suitable when you mainly want an independent assessment. Coaching may be more appropriate when you need help making decisions or implementing the feedback.
A thesis review may identify language issues when they affect the clarity, logic or interpretation of the content.
It does not automatically include a complete correction of:
- grammar;
- spelling;
- punctuation;
- sentence structure;
- academic style.
When your main need is detailed language correction, a separate academic English or language review is more appropriate.
A thesis review is a content-focused assessment of an existing document.
Depending on the scope agreed in advance, the coach may review:
- the problem analysis and research objective;
- the main research question and sub-questions;
- the theoretical framework;
- the methodology;
- the results and analysis;
- the conclusion, discussion and recommendations;
- the structure, coherence and overall line of reasoning.
Your graduation manual, assessment criteria and supervisor feedback remain the main point of reference.
Coaches, sessions and documents
We consider more than the subject of your thesis.
The match may depend on:
- your degree programme;
- the thesis topic;
- the research methodology;
- the stage of the project;
- the type of support;
- the required software or specialist knowledge;
- the language;
- whether you prefer online or on-site support.
We then look for a coach whose expertise and approach fit your situation.
Yes. You may mention a preference after viewing the coach profiles.
We will take this preference into account. The final match also depends on the coach’s expertise, the type of support required and current availability.
When another coach is a better methodological or subject-specific fit, we will explain this during the consultation.
Yes. Most forms of thesis coaching, statistics support and document feedback can take place online.
Sessions may be held through Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or Zoom. Documents can be shared digitally, and statistics support may include screen sharing.
Online coaching is also suitable when you live elsewhere in the Netherlands or temporarily study abroad.
On-site coaching may be possible, depending on your location, the expertise required and the availability of a suitable coach.
Online coaching often offers a wider choice of coaches because the match can be based primarily on expertise rather than location.
Any meeting arrangements and possible travel-related costs should be discussed before an on-site session is confirmed.
Please contact Jouw Scriptiecoach when the collaboration does not feel like the right fit or when you need different specialist expertise for the next stage.
We can then consider whether:
- the working method with your current coach can be adjusted;
- another coach may suit you better;
- a second specialist coach is needed for a particular part of the research.
It is best to discuss this as soon as possible, so that your remaining hours can be used effectively.
The most useful documents depend on your question. You may be asked to provide:
- your current thesis or relevant chapters;
- the research proposal;
- the graduation manual;
- the assessment form;
- supervisor or assessor feedback;
- a questionnaire or interview guide;
- an anonymised dataset;
- statistical output.
You do not need to send every document before making initial contact. During the consultation, we explain what is needed to assess your request.
During the free consultation, we discuss:
- what you are studying;
- which assignment or thesis you are working on;
- where you are stuck;
- which feedback you have received;
- your research method;
- the documents available;
- your deadline;
- the type of support you may need.
We can then provide an initial indication of the suitable service, coach and number of hours.
The consultation is free and without obligation. You remain free to decide whether you would like to proceed.
Share only the information the coach needs to support you.
Datasets and documents should be anonymised where possible. Remove:
- names;
- contact details;
- student or employee numbers;
- patient or client information;
- other identifiable or confidential information.
You remain responsible for following the privacy, confidentiality and research-ethics requirements of your degree programme, internship organisation or research organisation.
Rates, payment and practical arrangements
No. Jouw Scriptiecoach cannot guarantee a passing grade, successful resit or diploma.
The final result depends on:
- the quality of your own research and writing;
- the way you process the feedback;
- the requirements of your programme;
- the assessment made by your university or university of applied sciences.
We can help you understand what requires attention and how you can improve your work independently.
Contact your coach as early as possible when you cannot attend an agreed session.
The rules for rescheduling, late cancellation and missed appointments are set out in the current terms and conditions.

The coach records the time used for agreed sessions, preparation and document feedback. This allows you to see:
- how much time has been used;
- what the time was used for;
- how many hours remain.
Purchased hours remain valid for two years from the date of purchase.
They can be used flexibly for different forms of support, such as thesis coaching, statistics, document feedback or defence preparation.
Yes. You do not have to commit to a complete programme or purchase a large package.
One hour may be suitable for:
- a clearly defined question;
- a focused one-to-one session;
- discussing supervisor feedback;
- checking a research decision;
- reviewing one specific analysis.
You can purchase additional hours later when you need them.
Coaching hours may be used for:
- online or on-site sessions;
- reading and reviewing documents;
- written comments and feedback;
- necessary preparation;
- research and methodology support;
- statistics support;
- a thesis review;
- defence preparation.
When a coach needs time to read or prepare a document, this time is part of the service.
The scope of substantial review or preparation work should be discussed with you in advance.
The number of hours depends on factors such as:
- your current thesis stage;
- the type of support;
- the length and quality of your document;
- your research method;
- the feedback you have received;
- the work you can complete independently;
- your deadline.
During the free consultation, we provide an indication based on the information and documents available.
This is an estimate rather than a guarantee. The amount of support required may change during the process.
You can purchase one coaching hour or choose a package with a lower effective hourly rate.
The current prices and packages are listed on the rates page. The initial consultation is free, and no coaching hours are deducted for this conversation.
