Are you working on a thesis, research proposal or graduation project at a Dutch university or university of applied sciences? Perhaps you are unsure how to structure your research, struggling with supervisor feedback or finding it difficult to express your ideas in clear academic English.
Jouw Scriptiecoach provides personal, one-to-one thesis support for students who need additional guidance alongside the supervision offered by their degree programme.
Our coaches can help you with your research content and methodology, thesis structure, academic writing, data analysis, statistics and the feedback you receive from your supervisor or assessor.
We support students in English and Dutch, online or on site where available. You can also receive online coaching when you are completing an internship, field study or graduation project abroad while enrolled at a Dutch institution.
Personal thesis support when you need extra guidance
Writing a thesis involves many decisions. Sometimes you know your subject well but still find it difficult to turn your ideas into a focused research project.
You may be wondering:

- What does my supervisor mean by this feedback?
- How should I structure my theoretical framework?

We look at your own research, the feedback you have received and the requirements of your degree programme. Your coach explains what needs attention, helps you understand your options and gives you concrete feedback so that you can continue independently.
You remain responsible for your research and your final thesis. We guide you through the process, but we do not write your thesis for you.

Different thesis problems require different types of support. At Jouw Scriptiecoach, you can choose from three main services.
Thesis coaching
Choose personal thesis coaching when you want to discuss your research, understand supervisor feedback or receive guidance while working on your thesis.
Your coach can help you with topics such as your research proposal, problem statement, research questions, theoretical framework, methodology, qualitative or quantitative research, results, conclusion, academic writing and thesis defence.
You can book a focused session for one specific question or receive support across several stages of your thesis.
Thesis review
Have you already written a substantial part of your thesis and would you like an independent opinion before submitting it?
During a thesis review, an experienced coach looks at your document with a focus on content, research logic, structure, completeness and coherence.
Where available, we use your graduation manual, assessment criteria and supervisor feedback as the starting point. You receive clear comments and improvement priorities that you can process yourself.
SPSS and statistics help
Have you collected your data but are unsure how to analyse them? Or are you struggling with your SPSS output, hypotheses or statistical tests?
Our statistics coaches can help you prepare your dataset, choose appropriate analyses, check assumptions, interpret your output and report your findings correctly.
Support is available for SPSS as well as Stata, R and Python. We can also help you with quantitative research design before you start collecting data.
Thesis support that fits your degree programme
There is no single format that applies to every thesis in the Netherlands.
A bachelor’s or master’s thesis at a research university may place strong emphasis on academic literature, theory, methodology and scientific argumentation. A graduation project at a university of applied sciences may focus more strongly on a practical or organisational problem, stakeholder needs and a professional product or recommendation.
Requirements can also differ between individual degree programmes.
That is why we do not work from one standard thesis template.
Where possible, your coach looks at the requirements that apply to your own programme, such as:
- your graduation manual or thesis guidelines;
- the assessment form or rubric;
- feedback from your supervisor or assessor;
- requirements for your research method;
- requirements for a professional product or graduation project.
This helps us give feedback that is relevant to your own assignment rather than generic thesis advice.

You do not need to wait until you are completely stuck before asking for help.
Research proposal and research questions
Still at the beginning? We can help you narrow down your topic, define the underlying problem and develop a clear research objective, main research question and sub-questions.
We can also look at your research proposal or plan of approach and help you understand feedback if it has not yet been approved.
Theoretical framework and methodology
A strong thesis needs more than relevant literature. Your theory, research questions and methodology should form a logical whole.
Your coach can help you organise your literature, strengthen the connection between concepts and research questions and justify your methodological choices.
Depending on your research, this may involve qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods or practice-based research.
Data analysis and results
Collected interviews, survey data or another dataset? We can help you understand how to analyse your data and how the findings connect to your research questions.
Our coaches have experience with qualitative analysis, coding, thematic analysis and quantitative methods using SPSS, Stata, R and Python.
Conclusion, discussion and recommendations
The final chapters should follow logically from the research you conducted. We can help you assess whether your conclusion actually answers the main research question, whether your discussion reflects critically on the research and whether your recommendations are supported by your findings.
Supervisor feedback or an insufficient grade
Received a page full of comments but still unsure what you need to change? We can help you translate feedback into concrete priorities and determine which issues need to be addressed first.
If your thesis, proposal or graduation project received an insufficient grade, we can also review the assessment and help you create a focused plan for your resit.
